Award Voting Process
Michael J. Brennan Best Paper Award: The editorial board is asked to vote, first in a nomination stage and then among the top nominated papers. All votes go through, and are only seen by, the journal’s Managing Editor.
Rising Scholar Award: Authors indicate their eligibility for this award during the submission process. The editorial board votes. All votes go through, and are only seen by, the journal’s Managing Editor.
Referee of the Year, Distinguished Referees: A report is created in our submission system that shows the number of papers reviewed by each referee in the prior year along with the average grade the reviews received. The Editors and Executive Editor hold a discussion regarding the award. This discussion continues through several rounds until a consensus emerges. There may or may not be a formal vote depending on the degree of disagreement among the Editors. Ultimately the Executive Editor can unilaterally select the award winner.
