Preliminary Conference Agenda

 

Given the increasing success of the North American edition and the evident demand for conferences of this quality in accessible locations, the SFS is happy to announce its plans for an Asia-Pacific version of the Cavalcade. The SFS Cavalcade Asia-Pacific is a joint project of the Review of Financial Studies, the Review of Corporate Finance Studies, and the Review of Asset Pricing Studies. It will be a high-quality conference covering all areas of finance. The format is 55 minutes per paper with several concurrent parallel sessions. Our goal is to provide a setting that produces the kind of in-depth participation of a smaller conference while accommodating the variety of papers of a larger one.

Registration

Registration is now open.
Early registration rate of $100 SFS members/$125 for non members  is available until November 10, 2017.  After November 10, 2017, prices increase to $140 SFS members/$165 non members.  Doctoral students and Tsinghua University (host university) receives complimentary registration.

Hotel

The conference will be held at the Wenjin hotel. To reserve a room, participants need to complete the Wenjin Hotel Reservation Form and email it to the email address in the form.

Visa

You need both a current passport (at least six months of remaining validity) and a visa to visit mainland China, unless you are a Chinese citizen or have permanent residence status in China.

You may apply for a visa at the Chinese Embassy or at the nearest consulate general. Alternatively, many travel agencies will assist you with the application and some can submit it on your behalf. For detailed information, please contact your local embassy, consulate, or travel agency.

We recommend that you apply for a business visa, instead of a tourist visa, and Tsinghua University can issue an official invitation letter to you. To pursue this option complete the Official Visa Invitation Letter Application Form. It is advisable that you request a visa invitation letter by October 31st.

Transportation

Airport

Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK), located 48 minutes from the conference is the recommended airport to fly into for the conference.

Traveling from the airport to Wenjin Hotel

Taxis are available from Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) and are located at the front of the terminal building. Attached is the Information to provide to taxi driver in Chinese.

Wenjin Hotel operator is 86-10-62525566. If you need airport pick up service, please contact concierge department, the extension is 5013.

Metro: The Beijing Subway’s Airport Express runs from Terminals 2 and 3 directly to the city center.

Submissions

The submission period was June 5-July 20, 2017. The submission fee was $50. For papers in which ALL co-authors are doctoral students, the submission fee was waived. Please submit your paper at https://www.conftool.com/cavalcade-asia-pacific-2017/ during the submission period.

The submitted paper must not have been accepted (or conditionally accepted) at a journal nor have been presented (or be scheduled to be presented) at the WFA/AFA.

Please note: Authors of accepted papers must be able to attend their session regardless of which day the session is scheduled. If an author cannot make it to the scheduled time, the conference reserves the right to pull the paper.

Conference Dual Submission Option

You may elect dual submission to either The Review of Corporate Finance Studies or The Review of Asset Pricing Studies. If you wish to be considered for dual submission, please ensure you select the appropriate category while submitting. If the journal you select decides not to send your paper out for review, the editor may refer your paper to the other journal, if appropriate, or to The Review of Financial Studies, for possible review. Thus, by selecting the dual submission option, you have implicitly agreed to be reviewed by any of the three SFS journals. Please see our Dual Submission Policy.
